Zain Hashmi MD

Assistant Professor of Surgery, Trauma & Acute Care Surgery UAB

Dr. Zain Hashmi is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery at UAB. He received his medical degree at the Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan after which he completed general surgery residency at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and trauma/surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During the course of his surgical training, Dr. Hashmi also completed trauma and surgical research fellowships at the Center for Surgical Trials and Outcomes Research, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and at the Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. His clinical interests include trauma resuscitation and critical care. Dr. Hashmi’s research focuses on trauma systems development, quality improvement and application of quantitative methods for trauma benchmarking.
